*New Adult Contemporary Romance*
Serena has learned to live with her past, locking her secrets and nightmares deep inside her. But when her boyfriend of six years abruptly leaves her, she’s catapulted back into pain, nursing a broken heart. When indulging in mountains of chocolate doesn’t work, Serena decides the best way to deal with her shattered heart is to indulge in something else. A rebound . . .
The night she swaps her usual Sprite for tequila, she meets James. The encounter is breathtaking.
Electrifying.
And best not repeated.
James is a successful entrepreneur in Silicon Valley. A man who has amassed a fortune by taking risks. A man who has shunned commitment completely, and still does. He’s the exact opposite of Serena. But sometimes opposites attract. Sometimes they give in to burning passion. Sometimes opposites are perfect for each other.
James is everything her damaged soul could want. His kisses are intoxicating, his touch out of this world. He makes her forget. He grants her peace from her pain. But as they grow closer, Serena discovers she isn’t the only one with a past. James carries the scars of a past much darker than hers. One that has left him damaged, hurt, and wary of love. A past that gives him the power to shatter her.
Now James and Serena must find a way to mend one another. Or risk losing each other forever.

I had no idea what to expect from this debut novel. The blurb sounded promising and I loved the cover, plus I enjoy reading new adult novels, so I decided to give this book a try. It is not a five star book for me, because I didn't like the beginning since I'm not a big fan of instant love and sometimes the drama was just too much to bear, but still it was very enjoyable, angsty read. I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel, can't wait to read Jess and Parker's story.

Serena and James were great couple, their love story made me feel variety of different feelings. Both tormented with guilt from the past events and although madly in love, it was a long, painful and sometimes even heartbreaking journey before they got their HEA.

"I was wrong. So, so wrong. Two broken souls do not make a whole one. Two broken souls cannot heal one another. They will devour, shatter each other until there's nothing left of either of them."

Although at first glance they appeared to be totally different, it could not be less true. For me it was really easy connect with the characters, especially with Serena. Sometimes she was annoying me, but I was glad that in the end she conquered her fears. James was the kind of guy a girl can only wish for, well except the promiscuous behavior part. He didn't like the chocolate. I think he is one in the million, everybody loves it!

I didn't think their relationship was healthy for most of the time and I hated all the I will change for you" talk. However, I couldn't help it, the story line was simply addictive.

If you are a fan of new adult novels with damaged hero (and heroine) , then you don't wanna miss this great debut novel.

Kisses
