Review: Control by Charlotte Stein

01 March 2014

Will she choose control or just let go?
When Madison Morris wanted to hire a shop assistant for her naughty little bookstore, she never dreamed she'd have two handsome men vying for the position—and a whole lot more. Does she choose dark and dangerous Andy with his sexy tattoos? Or quiet, serious Gabriel, whose lean physique and gentle touch tempt her more than she thought possible?
She loves the way Andy takes charge when it comes to sex. But the turmoil in Gabe's eyes hints at a deep well of complicated emotions locked inside. When the fun and games are over, only one man can have control of her heart.

I have just found myself a new favorite author It is really hard to find a well-written erotic fiction with captivating story and likeable characters, you will probably easier encounter an unicorn these days. I have read many enjoyable, but trashy erotic stories. It's not that I don't love them. I really do and I always rate them high, but purely for enjoyment. Luckily, this is not one of those books. Charlotte Stein can write and I will read anything that has her name on it. It even doesn't have to be erotica. A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G!

This is a story of slutty bookworm torn between two men: one is dominant and the other is submissive. I wouldn't necessarily call it a love triangle, because it was pretty obvious who will she choose from the very beginning. The only one who didn't know it was HIM, obviously. That had lead to some drama, but not too much, just right dose to entertain a reader without making him going wild. The other thing I really liked about this book was the dialogue. I didn't roll my eyes even once. I kept thinking: wow and asking myself how the hell did she do it, because it was smart, funny, witty, intelligent.. simply amazing. Maddie was an amazing narrator. I had so much fun inside her head, I just adored that woman.

"Apparently I'm not allowed to hire any men at all, because I'm a sex maniac"

"Because of all the sexual harassment that would have gone on in the workplace?" There's already sexual harassment going on in the workplace.

"Figuring out the ratio of immorality to sex. If he puts a hand on my tit, is hell just around the corner, or down the next street?"

"If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed he jerked off not moments before. Would not have believed it. It looks like he's just finished chapter seven of Uninteresting Books for Boring People."

The plot was...well, you can imagine it, it's an erotic novel, so yes, the usual stuff :)

I would recommend Control to lovers of naughty books who are looking for a great read with story that won't insult their intelligence. If you are not a fan of erotic novels, but you appreciate great writing and you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and "come to the dark side" I suggest to read this book.
