Beautiful but deadly, Rayna Dugan is a force to be reckoned with - even in heels. But when her plans for the evening suddenly involve defending her life against a criminal empire, Rayna knows she needs backup. Suddenly the choice she made to leave Ty and her old mercenary team in Montana seems like a bad call. She’s been running from her feelings for the tough, rugged man, but Rayna needs Ty now more than ever. Yet when Ty becomes the new target, his help could mean his death… Ex-cop Ty Whitlock has spent the last six years waiting for his past to catch up with him. When it finally does, he isn’t expecting the woman he loves-the one who walked out on him-to be caught in its web. He knows she’s moved on, but he can’t help but want one more chance with the petite beauty. Ty’s only got one choice: find Rayna and keep her safe. But that’s the easy part. Once he finds her, can he convince her to stay?

Men are from Mars, women are from Venus. How much this statement is true I was convinced several times while I was reading this book. Sometimes it seemed to me Rayna and Ty were talking in entire different language, and since I knew what each of them thought about and how their inability to understand each other had lead to many misunderstandings, I was sure I would go mad with all the frustration I felt.
Although I was irritated at the same time I liked how imperfect they were and I cannot help getting attached to them. I'm really pleased they found the common language at the end and left behind all misunderstandings which were preventing their happiness.

„I was lost, too, you know, before you came along. Just two souls, destined to be friends.“

You see what I'm talking about? They were destined to fall hard for one another, to be lovers, not just friends! What a nonsense! But I understand their position and why they were afraid of love. Death of Rayna's beloved brother marked her forever. She was afraid of loving Ty, the fear of possible death of another important person in her life was too much to bear and she took the easy way out-she turned her back to love. After all, that was the only way to avoid getting hurt again, she thought. Ty felt like he didn't deserve her and couldn't forgive himself for bringing Rayna in life dangerous situation because of his demons from past that came back to hunt him when he finally thought he had left it all behind, buried in the past.

„You two are adults. I assume you'll eventually communicate and see if there's anything here to salvage.“

My thoughts exactly. This was really valuable lesson to me. People need to learn communicate properly if they want to avoid unnecessary conflicts. Life would be easier.

But enough with all that love drama. This book was also action-packed, my heart was racing fast almost on every pages while I was cheering for the good guys to kick ass the bad Russian mobsters. Secrets were unraveled that left me speechless. Some twists in the plot that I didn't saw coming made me gasp with surprise. I was slightly annoyed by the number of times Rayna was abducted. It was a bit too much.

All in all, it was a great read, I will definitely check other books from this series. I would recommend this to fans of sweet romance (not enough sexy scenes to my regret) and a lot of action.
