Blog Tour: Flawed Perfection by Cassandra Giovanni

04 April 2014

Bobby Beckerson was the American All-Star hockey player--he was the spitting image of perfection to his family. Goofy, sweet and undeniably gorgeous, he had everything but the one girl he wanted: River Ahlers.
River Ahlers is successful in everything but love. She's been in love with Adam Beckerson since they were kids. Worst of all she's stuck right in the middle of the brother's dueling over everything and anything, and she doesn't even know she's the ultimate prize.
Adam Beckerson was a boy with a guitar, a smile that sunk girl's hearts and a stone wall around his own. He was anything but perfect, and no matter how hard he tried he was nothing compared to Bobby. Sweet, damaged, with boyish good-looks, nobody thought Adam loved anyone but himself.
Bobby loved River, River loved Adam and Adam only loved himself--or so everyone thought. Then one night everything changes, and as it threatens to destroy everyone involved a tragedy strikes that will break them all...

MY REVIEW

Flawed Perfection
by Cassandra Giovanni
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

**ARC courtesy of author in exchange for an honest review**

4 cute little stars!

description

I wasn't sure that I would love this book, because it has two things I hate the most: love triangle and friends who later became lovers. But I wanted to read it anyway, I had a hunch this could be good. And I was right! It wasn't a five stars book to me, but it was really close to perfection.
And considering the fact the book is about things, as mentioned above, I usually don't like, I think you can guess I loved it despite of my better judgment. This was my guilty little pleasure.

So, we have a love triangle between River and two brothers: Adam and Bobby. Bobby was a golden boy, everyone loved him while Adam was a black sheep, never good enough for their parents. I think something was seriously wrong with parents in this book. The only normal one was River's dad, but then he was pussy whipped and without a voice, because his wife was wearing the pants. I loved him and hated him at the same time. The other character I had love-hate relationship was Bobby.
Thanks to him, sometimes I even felt like I was watching a soap opera. A couple of times I almost threw my ereader on the wall, especially when he was acting like a child, because someone else took his toy.

The first half of the book was my favorite one, it was full of sexual tension between River and Adam. Oh boy, did I loved it! They were friends for year, but Adam never felt enough and worthy of River's love. I totally blame his parents for the way he is now. Some people really doesn't deserve to have children.

Anyway, they both dated people who they didn't care about, but one day everything changed...Too many sexual tension lead to explosion. I loved it. But they had a big problem with name Bobby...

It's hard to talk about plot, I don't want to reveal some important stuff. I read a big spoiler accidentally and it really wasn't the same after that. I knew what to expect at the end. So I was totally flegmatic at the end. Yes, spoilers suck!!!

I would recommend this book to lovers of new adult novels. This was an emotional ride, I had a lot of fun reading it, but sometimes the characters were annoying me a little too much and the love scenes could have been more,hmmm...daring.
I would prefer a stand-alone novel too. Well, considering that cliffhanger at the end, there is a need for sequel, but for me it was unnecessary and I'm not sure why the author did it. Still, I'm going to read the next book, I'm curios what will happen next.

Some amazing quotes:

“It’s scary you know exactly how I take my coffee.”
“It just shows I pay more attention than you think,” Adam commented as he took a sip out of his own cup.
“I can’t for the life of me understand how you know how I take my coffee.”
“Oh, Adam!” I purred, suddenly bold as I put my hand on his shoulder and leaned in to nip his neck. “Tell me how you’re going to take all my clothes off!”
Adam’s body went rigid in response to my playful tease and he coughed.
“Crap, Riv…did you really just bite me?”

“Go put some clothes on,” he ordered, pointing the spatula at my bedroom. “You’re becoming more of a tease every day.”
“I didn’t think it was a tease unless it was something you wanted.”

“I’ll make you breakfast for the rest of your life if you want it.”
His eyes drifted up from the shifter to mine, and time seemed to freeze. My heart stopped beating, and all I could hear was his breathing and mine, in perfect rhythm with each other.“I might get fat,” I finally managed to say.

“Ha!” Tara jumped down as well. “River would never cheat on you! She hasn’t stopped talking about what you guys are going to do with Bobby gone for a whole weekend.”
Adam’s eyebrows twitched, and his lip ring pulled ever so slightly in his mouth.
“Really?”
Tara shrugged. “Something about holding hands where everyone can see.”
“Oh,” Adam said, suddenly looking guilty.
“God! You two are such perverts!”

That was it. I loved him desperately, completely, and he wasn’t threatening to consume me anymore. He already had. Everything that was me was him. My heart, mind and soul were all as much a part of him as they were me. His lips moved from mine and our eyes met, staring into one another’s souls. I couldn’t separate what parts of me were because of him, and what parts of me were my own. Somehow over the years they became one in the same; only now did I see how utterly lost I’d become in him. There was no going back. I only hoped he’d never leave, because that was the darkness that truly scared me now.
